Elective filler dissolving is used to reverse poorly placed, or migrated or unwanted filler. It can also be used to dissolve fillers in those that have changed their mind about the procedure.
However it is important to note that hyaluronidase is an enzyme not a magic potion, and although we commonly refer to it as “dissolving” it does not actually do this. The enzyme acts by breaking the bonds between the hyaluronic acid molecules (both in the filler AND in your own skin). Once the particles are smaller, the body can break the remainder down more easily, however some reminants may remain.

Allergy

Before having an elective dissolve, you will need to undergo an intradermal test to rule out allergy. Anyone with a severe allergy to bee stings (which contain hyaluronidase) should carefully consider having dermal fillers, as they will not be able to dissolve in an emergency or as an elective procedure. The intradermal test takes around 30 minutes, and is usually carried out on your forearm. In an emergency dissolve, intradermal tests are not required.

If any of the following apply you are not a suitable candidate for chemical peels

• Active infection.
• Phenol-based peels in patients with renal or hepatic disease.
• History of an allergic reaction to a peeling agent.

Thread veins also known as spider veins because of the spidery way they cross the skin are a common issue and are harmless. They are more common in women particularly after pregnancy but tend to occur, as we get older.

The medical term for them is telangiectasia and they are very simply enlarged veins which are visible at the surface of the skin.

Once spider veins have appeared, they tend not to disappear. Medically they are considered to be harmless, but many people do want to get rid of them for cosmetic reasons and to stop them from getting worse

• Pre-care: no recent tan, buy support tights or stockings (class 2 tightness) to cover required areas required or ask the chemist for support stockings
• Treatment schedule: consultation first and 3-4 treatment sclerotherapy (injection) sessions in most cases 4-6 weeks apart.
